Alka Moti Saaj

This ornament is an authentic, traditional Kolhapuri Saaj, a historic Maharashtrian long necklace revered as a symbol of cultural identity, prosperity, and marital bliss.

• The Panadi (Leaves/Pendants): The long strand is composed of symmetric, small leaf-like tokens known as panadi . Traditionally, a full bridal Saaj includes 21 of these motifs representing deities, natural elements (like the sun and moon), and protective charms, though contemporary variations often feature 10 to 12 pieces per side. 
• The Main Pendant (Saaj Ghat): Serving as the central anchor at the base is a prominent, teardrop-shaped Saaj Ghat pendant. It features a large, central pink kemp ruby stone encircled by fine gold filligree framing. 
• Beadwork & Embellishments: Woven closely around the entire border of the necklace—including both the panadi elements and the main pendant—are delicate, cascading semi-cultured pearls and small gold ghungroo beads that add texture and classic motion to the ornament.
